Interview with our partner Seng-Phil Hong on a new Blockchain-based Gold Trading Platform

March 27, 2020

Our partner Prof. Dr. Seng-Phil Hong took part in the CES 2020, the world’s largest IT and Consumer Electronics Exhibition in Las Vegas. Blockchain was a hot topic there. Phil represented HancomWith, a subsidiary of the Korean Hancom Group, which he leads since last year.

HancomWith presented some exciting developments based on Blockchain technology. Its Blockchain-based Gold Trading Platform provides easy access to the gold trading industry for the general public. The ultimate goal of this platform is to expand its services throughout the Asian gold markets for establishing the Asian Digital Gold Belt. The objective is not only to provide domestic trading, but also value-added services such as international remittance services, digital certificate verification, and several other derivative services pertaining to gold futures, funds, and VIP auctions within the Asian gold market that they plan to develop in the near future.

The platform establishes partnerships with global banks all around the world, where the banks take the step of guaranteeing the transaction amount itself, bypassing the current system based on SWIFT messages, which eventually will reduce the commission the clients have to pay. Not only does it provide low-cost transactions, but it also decreases the amount of time it takes for the transaction to complete.

While the traditional gold trading industry requires significant investments for participating in trading, HancomWith’s platform allows the buyer to purchase gold in decimal points which broadens the opportunity for the general public to access with minimum requirements.

Phil said:

“We are confident that our gold trading platform will be a sensation not just to the Asian market but also expand into Europe, Africa and other continents. We are open to any kind of business collaboration, partnership and investment to whoever may be interested in our platform.”

He added :

“Through our partnership with Blockchain Asia, we hope this could also work as a leverage to let people be more acquainted with our brand, services and especially our gold trading platform so that we may attract many interested parties from Blockchain Asia’s worldwide network.”
