Blockchain Associations in Asia – An Overview

Since 2014, blockchain associations have been established in various countries for the purpose of promoting blockchain/distributed ledger technology and exchanging best practice among their members. This article lists the Asian associations we are aware of. If any organization is missing, please be so kind and let us know.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong Blockchain Society (HKBCS) 香港區塊鏈學會

The HKBCS promotes sustainable and mature of the blockchain ecosystem. HKBCS works with government, academia, and industry to promote legitimate blockchain development through education & training, research & development, advisory, and other activities and services.

Blockchain Association Of Hong Kong

Major objectives of the Blockchain Association of Hong Kong are to promote Blockchain and related technologies to general public as well as to provide an open environment to encourage and cultivate innovations in blockchain among developers.

Hong Kong Blockchain Association (HKBA) 香港區塊鏈協會

Founded in 2018, HKBA is an organization with open mind, equality and democracy. Through learning, communication and promotion of blockchain technology and its applications, HKBA aims to establish a platform to connect the blockchain practitioners in Greater China and in the world.

Asia Blockchain Society
亞洲區塊鏈學會

ABS was founded in 2018 and aims is to “create opportunities, freedom, equality, inclusiveness and coexistence” to deliver core values, always adhering to the business philosophy of “mutual benefit” and bringing together a group of highly qualified academic experts to contribute to the development of the Asian blockchain industry.

Mainland China

Zhongguancun Blockchain Industry Alliance

Zhongguancun Blockchain Industry Alliance was established on February 3, 2016. Purpose is to promote blockchain technology research, results transformation, application promotion and industrial development, promote the accelerated development of next-generation Internet infrastructure with blockchain as the core, and provide services for the business development of all member companies of the alliance.

Financial Blockchain Shenzhen Consortium (FISCO)

FISCO was established on May 31, 2016. It has so far attracted and admitted more than 100 members including financial institutions and financial information service companies. FISCO strives to integrate and coordinate research resources to advance financial blockchain technology, as well as promote synergy and collaboration for blockchain-based financial application research.

Shanghai Blockchain Enterprise Development Promotion Alliance

The Shanghai Blockchain Enterprise Development Promotion Alliance was launched by Zhongan Technology on November 2, 2016. It aims to use new technologies such as blockchain as an entry point, combining insurance technology, intelligent data, financial credit, health care and other business scenarios.

Taiwan

Asia Blockchain Alliance (ABA)

ABA is a non-governmental organization dedicated to guide and promote comprehensive adoption of blockchain technology across not only finance but different industries.
ABA creates an open platform for policymakers, regulators, technology innovators and markets to guide the public dialogue about the concepts and potentials.

South Korea

Korea Society of Blockchain 한국블록체인학회 학회

The Korea Society of Blockchain was established on November 25, 2016 by leading academics in Korea.

Japan Blockchain Association (JBA)

Blockchain Collaborative Consortium (BCCC) ブロックチェーン推進協会

Since 2016, BCCC promotes the widespread adoption of block chain technology, acquires latest information and basic knowledge of block chains, trains engineers and planners, forms networks, creates demonstrations and disseminates block chains to various businesses.

India

Blockchain Foundation of India (BFI)

BFI is the liaison between blockchain businesses, startups, venture capitals, industry experts, and technology enthusiasts in India— connecting the community through events, conferences, meetups, and indoor meetings.

Singapore

ACCESS (the Singapore Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Industry Association)

ACCESS believes in the transformative potential of bitcoin along with other cryptocurrencies and their underlying technology called blockchain. ACCESS envisions Singapore as a premier global hub for businesses driven by digital currencies and blockchain technologies. ACCESS was founded on 30 May 2014.

Malaysia

Malaysia Blockchain Association (MBA)

MBA is an international non-profit social enterprise established with a global vision to build a sustainable blockchain community through Malaysia cooperation.

ACCESS Blockchain Association

ACCESS Blockchain Association is home of individuals, startups, businesses and organisations utilising and exploring blockchain technology in Malaysia. We are platform-agnostic and welcome financial and non-financial use-cases of blockchain technology.
